The Yellow-tailed Sulphur, a butterfly native to the bright and lively regions of Mexico, Central America, and South America, brings joy as it flutters close to the ground, where its cheery host plants thrive. While many sulphur butterflies possess rounded hindwings, the Yellow-tailed Sulphur captivates with its distinctively triangular tail, reminiscent of a teardrop. This unique shape not only distinguishes it but also earns it the endearing nickname, The Teardrop Sulphur."
The Yellow Tailed Sullphur Butterfly is an orginal artwork measuring approximtaley 6.5 x 6.5". Each vintage inspired artwork starts among the sketchbook pages, literred with hand writte notes and research that dive into the mytology, meaning, and stories of each of her subjects. From the sketch phase each artwork is transferred onto hot press watercolor paper to begin the stages of her process. Light layers of graphite and watercolor are then layered to create the vintage feeling that is seen. Erica Catherine dreams of her art being cherish for many years, ideally becoming heirlooms passed through generations.
