The Great Spangled Fritillary Butterfly can be found in parts of Canada, South California, New Mexico, Arkansas, and northern portions of Georgia and is the most common Fritillary Butterfly in the US. On their hindwings you can find silver spots amongst the reddish brown color of their wings. The females of this species ten to be much darker than the males while the western butterflies tend to have more orange coloring that those found on the East Coast. The Fritillary Butterfly is an orginal artwork measuring approximtaley 6 x 4.3". Each vintage inspired artwork starts among the sketchbook pages, literred with hand writte notes and research that dive into the mytology, meaning, and stories of each of her subjects. From the sketch phase each artwork is transferred onto hot press watercolor paper to begin the stages of her process. Light layers of graphite and watercolor are then layered to create the vintage feeling that is seen. Erica Catherine dreams of her art being cherish for many years, ideally becoming heirlooms passed through generations.
