The peach boasts a rich history, tracing back over 8,000 years to China, where it was cherished as a symbol of longevity, immortality, and good fortune. With more than 2,000 vibrant varieties, there's a delightful array to savor when snacking. Beyond its symbolism in time, the peach also represents the state of Georgia, standing as its State Fruit since 1995. This delictable fruit reflects a long agricultural legacye. The Peach was first introduced to St. Simons Island in the 16th century by Franciscan monks. Its popularity soared as it spread across the U.S., offering Georgia farmers a sweet alternative. Although peach production has declined in Georgia, its bright legacy continues to thrive.
The freshly picked collection joyfully celebrates the vibrant life blooming around us with the changing seasons. Featuring bright florals and fruits, alongside earthy fungi and ferns, this series captures the essence of the season and the cherished memories it brings. Each illustration, like a fleeting moment, is available only during its specific blooming period, symbolizing the transient beauty of nature.
Each Original drawing begins its life as a quick sketch by Erica in her sketchbook. Each sheet is individually torn rather than cut, to preserve the originality of each page. To add a touch of whimsy, small pools of watercolor are added on the paper in shapes that compliment the specific flower. The sketches are then transferred and hand drawn in graphite, creating a series of original drawings that are similar but each have their own individual personality.
