The Eastern subspecies of this Swallowtail can be found from Southern Ontario, New Hampshire, and as far south as Northern Mexico and the Gulf Coast. You can see this prolific butterfly flying from spring through to fall. During this time they can produce between two to three broods. The males and females of this species differ in color and patterning. The male Tiger Swallowtail is yellow with four black stripes across it's wings. Where are the female wings can be black or yellow. The yellow females appear very similar to the males but can be differentiated by a small row of blue spots along the lower hind wing. The Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly is an orginal artwork measuring approximtaley 6 x 7\". Each vintage inspired artwork starts among the sketchbook pages, literred with hand writte notes and research that dive into the mytology, meaning, and stories of each of her subjects. From the sketch phase each artwork is transferred onto hot press watercolor paper to begin the stages of her process. Light layers of graphite and watercolor are then layered to create the vintage feeling that is seen.
